Tyler Technologies Announces Winners of the 2014 Tyler Public Sector Excellence Awards for Odyssey Courts & Justice Solution

Court agencies awarded for excellence using Odyssey court case management system

PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced recipients of its 2014 Tyler Public Sector Excellence awards for the Odyssey® courts and justice solution. San Luis Obispo, California, and Texas’ Collin County and the Office of Court Administration received Excellence Awards for their use of the Odyssey court case management and e-filing systems.

“We are pleased to publicly recognize clients like the Texas OCA who mandated e-filing statewide to reduce costs for filers and improve efficiencies for courts, and San Luis Obispo who created a model for other California courts to leverage to meet their case management needs in a streamlined way”

Tyler’s Excellence Awards for Odyssey recognize organizations that have demonstrated excellence in deploying Odyssey in novel and successful ways that extend best practices. Award submissions were evaluated by a panel of Tyler leadership, and entries were judged on business value, maturity, innovation and relevance to other public-sector organizations. Additional criteria met by award winners include:

  • Creating a unique process that utilizes a Tyler application
  • Realizing significant savings after implementing a Tyler product
  • Increasing staff productivity by implementing a Tyler product
  • Empowering employees, citizens or vendors

San Luis Obispo Superior Court exhibited leadership by moving quickly to consolidate 25 disconnected systems onto a single Odyssey platform; multiple Collin County offices were recognized for an integrated use of Odyssey across the county in order to efficiently share information between multiple agencies — including constables, district and county clerks, the jail, and the courthouse; and the Texas Office of Court Administration deployed Odyssey File & Serve to support a statewide e-filing platform, known as eFileTexas.gov, with an expected savings of 24 million sheets of paper in 2014.

Tyler Excellence Award winners were honored on Monday, April 14, at Tyler’s Connect 2014 user conference, where they were presented with the award and given the opportunity to share their best practices and lessons learned with their public sector peers.

“We are pleased to publicly recognize clients like the Texas OCA who mandated e-filing statewide to reduce costs for filers and improve efficiencies for courts, and San Luis Obispo who created a model for other California courts to leverage to meet their case management needs in a streamlined way,” said Bruce Graham, president of Tyler’s Courts & Justice Division. “Sharing successes shows what is possible, and helps us all make our courts better. Congratulations to the winners of Odyssey’s Tyler Excellence Awards.”

San Luis Obispo Judge Dodie Harman recently outlined the successful implementation of Odyssey during the April 24-25 California Judicial Council meeting. The presentation and meeting audio is available on the California Courts website.
